Germany, France, the United States of America, Italy and the United Kingdom welcome the vote of confidence granted by the overwhelming majority of the members of the House of Representatives meeting in Sirte from March 8-10 to the government formed by the Prime Minister. The designee is Mr. Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, who will act as the interim government of national unity.
We commend the Libyan people for their determination to restore the unity of their country. We congratulate all Libyan actors for facilitating the vote of this institution that represents the voice of the Libyan people and for their constructive participation in it.
This achievement is considered an essential step towards unifying the Libyan institutions and finding a comprehensive political solution to the crisis that has tested Libya and its people. Through the Berlin Process, we will continue, with our partners, to support the Libyan people and the efforts of the United Nations.
We welcome the statement issued by Prime Minister Al-Sarraj in which he welcomed the House of Representatives vote and declared his readiness to hand over power, and we now ask all existing Libyan authorities and actors to show the same spirit of responsibility.
