After being “unveiled” through drawings submitted to the European Patent Office, the new generation of Renault 4 – which will join the revamped Renault 5 in Losanga’s range of 100% electric models – is now an even more model. Thanks to “Credibility” for the photographic reconstruction done by the British magazine AutoExpress.
As confirmed by the French group CEO Luca De Meo, the positive reception of the Renault 5-inspired concept – which was revealed during the presentation of the Renaulution plan – convinced the company to continue on this path, planning the R5 electric future for 2023 and working on a similar process (prototype first, Evaluation of interactions and then, perhaps, the green light for production) also for R4.
One hypothesis is that the ‘multi-level’ concept inspired by the 1960s R4 icon – although defined today as a crossover – will be introduced later this year, marking the original model’s 60th anniversary. The event that Renault could use in this launch is the 2021 edition of the IAA, that is, the previous Frankfurt Motor Show moved to Munich this year and was dedicated to technological innovation and mobility.
Like the R5, the R4 can also use the Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF-B platform (the same basis as Renault Zoe) with perhaps the least powerful engine among the Zoe’s currently installed engines – 108 hp – to contain costs and achieve the goal – declared by de Meo himself.
