OnePlus and BOE Set to Unveil New Display, Potentially for Mobile Devices, in October

OnePlus and BOE, two renowned Chinese tech brands, have announced that they will be launching a new display on October 24, 2023. The news was revealed by both companies on Weibo, a popular Chinese social media platform, where OnePlus invited people to witness a historic moment for Chinese screens.

While no specific details about the upcoming display have been disclosed, popular tipster Digital Chat Station claims that it will boast a “2K” resolution and an impressive brightness of 3,000 nits. BOE is also expected to announce its own display with a brightness of 3,000 nits and a “1.5K” resolution.

This news comes as thrilling speculation for tech enthusiasts, with OnePlus already leading the market in terms of display brightness. The company’s first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, currently holds the record for the highest peak brightness in the market with 2,800 nits.

However, if the leak is indeed true, OnePlus and BOE will surpass this record with their upcoming display. The much-anticipated screen is rumored to be featured in the OnePlus 12, which is expected to launch in the next few months.

Another interesting point of comparison is the brightness of the upcoming display in relation to the Samsung Galaxy S24, with leaked information suggesting that the OnePlus 12’s screen will outshine its rival. The Galaxy S24 is projected to have a peak brightness of 2,400 nits, thus falling short of the potential capabilities of the OnePlus and BOE collaboration.

It is worth mentioning that while the OnePlus Open may have higher peak and maximum brightness on paper, in reality, it is not as bright as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, as proven by tests conducted by GSMArena, a trusted source for technology reviews.

Hence, it remains uncertain if the forthcoming display from OnePlus and BOE will top the charts in real-life brightness. Nevertheless, the anticipation surrounding this new technology is mounting, as tech enthusiasts eagerly await October 24, 2023, to witness the unveiling of what could be a game-changer in the world of smartphone display.
