ABU DHABI, 6th March / WAM – The UAE entered the Guinness Book of Records for presenting the largest sports medal in the world. This result, however, is much more than it appears. This medal bears the slogan of an initiative known as “the Knights”. This initiative is coherent and represents a legacy rich in history, which revolves around the living spirit of entrepreneurship, through the dynamic concept of positive citizenship.
The size of the medals really reflects that feeling. It has an approximate weight of 68.5 kg and a surface diameter of 2.56 sq.m.
To measure its size further, the medallion is 160 cm long, wide and an additional 7.4 cm deep.
Care was taken while making the medal. Guidelines, laws and requirements established by the Guinness Book of Records Committee have been preserved. These regulations included the use of very specific raw materials, including pure gold embellished stainless steel plating. Then it was embellished with an intricate engraving of the “Knights” emblem and then decorated with a 4-meter-long ribbon.
The legacy of this initiative embodies the growing interest in sports and strenuous physical activities in the country, which was laid the foundations of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. To support and assess this, world-class sports facilities have been built that will help citizens qualify on all fronts in the world of sport. In addition, many initiatives have been put in place that promote humanitarian and charitable practices, and have reached out to the nation’s youth through positive reinforcement that physical activities instill inside.
Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi is the visionary behind the “Al Fursan” initiative and expressed his patriotic pride in securing this sporting achievement by securing a place in the Guinness Book of Records. See this as a vital indicator of the capabilities and potential of the idea of ”positive citizenship” and how it enables people to be the best version of themselves.
Moreover, the initiative aims to effectively stimulate individual efforts in acquiring and inventing distinctive concepts. It also supports them in the foreground in obtaining international recognition, after their successful registration in the Guinness Book of Records, as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to tap and enhance the potential of their citizens.
Al-Fursan has also strengthened the unwavering march towards a better life through sport for young and old alike, especially after the many jumps and victories in the international sporting community.
