The US adventure in the 2022 World Cup ends in the round of 16. In Qatar, the Stars and Stripes national team lost a little while ago to the Netherlands (3-1) in the first match of the knockout stage, and therefore had to bid farewell to this very important tournament.

Immediately after the loss, US team coach Greg Berhalter said: “I think we’ve made some progress, I’m proud of this group. When people look at our team, they see a clear identity. They see guys dating and fighting for each other. They see talent on the field. We’ve made progress, but this particular night we just couldn’t show it.”

US Captain Tyler Adams also spoke:We’ve shown that we can stay with some of the best teams in the world, some of the best players in the world, and that’s great progression for American football. We’re moving in the right direction, for sure, but we have to keep pushing, because we’re close, but it’s still not enough.”
