Raleigh, North Carolina – Several shots were fired inside the Crabtree Valley Mall on Glenwood Avenue Thursday night.
Officials stated that the shooting took place on the first floor near an exit. As of 10 pm, no injuries had been reported.
Several police cars and ambulances responded to the scene after news of the shooting. Officials said there is no active shooter inside the mall at the moment.
Police said they believed the two people involved in the shooting knew each other.
Most of the mall has been evacuated and closed overnight.
WRAL viewers in the mall said they heard gunshots while shopping inside. When they heard the bullets, they went into hiding. Some people hid in store lockers to stay safe.
Police are currently reviewing video footage to compile exactly what happened.
Amanda Johnson, who was in the dining hall at the time, said a woman came to her while she was eating and told her her shots were fired inside the mall.
Johnson said that as she and her friend were leaving, officers stopped and ran into the mall.
“My first thought was – my kids are at home, we were trying to shop at the last minute at Christmas,” she said.
