Salvatore Balella He is an Italian-American entrepreneur working in the field of precision mobility, technology, and innovation. In 2016 he founded help’s who is currently the CEO. Helbiz is a global micro-mobility company with headquarters in New York City, Milan, Belgrade and Singapore, with nearly 300 employees, and offers its electric vehicles in nearly 40 cities around the world.
Born in Italy on September 29, 1987, Salvatore moved to Dublin after high school, gaining his first work experience in the fast food sector. After that he returned to Italy and founded his first company, always in the food business, which finds its climax in the large-scale sale of specialized machines for automatically squeezing citrus fruits.
In 2016, Salvatore founded Helbiz With a mission to meet the mobility needs of first and last mile in cities around the world. With an innovative media sharing app designed for the circular economy, Helbiz launched Italy’s first electric scooter sharing service in October 2018, paving the way for small joint mobility.
In 2021, Palella increased Helbiz’s regional coverage in the United States. Simultaneously in Europe, it acquired MiMoto, a leading manufacturer of electric scooters, making Helbiz the only brand in Europe to offer three combined electric vehicles (scooters, mopeds and scooters).
Also in 2021, Salvatore’s vision of expanding the product range is realized by creating two new lines of business: Helbiz Kitchen, the largest international ghost kitchen dedicated to food delivery; Helbiz Media, the streaming platform management company for watching entertainment content ranging from Italian football.
In August 2021, Helbiz listed on Nasdaq, the world’s first mini-mobility company to go public, continuing the path that Balila had taken over the previous years and backed by a significant increase in business.
Salvatore lives in New York and is married and the father of two children.
