The $ 250 Gengar pillow is launched in Japan, and it’s … well, the character fit.
But if you ever wanted to get your hands on it, chances are you’ve already lost your luck. Marigold that I developed P Bandai, Made available for pre-order last night, but sold out in less than 75 minutes.
The pillow, similar to the classic Ghost Pokemon, is 48 cm high and 53 cm wide. This is slightly smaller than its “real” size – the pokedex places the average Gengar at 1.5 meters from tail to tip – but it makes up for its diminutive body with its massive tongue. More than five feet of padding is gathered inside the main body of the pillow, which can be loosened for various (apparently) sleep-related purposes.
It is difficult to say exactly what purpose marigolds are supposed to serve. Last year, Bandai released an official Sleeping bag Metapod, But it’s much harder to decide where you’re supposed to rest your head when it comes to Gengar. Some promotional images show a model gathering the tongue for use as a pillow, but others show the model resting its head inside the mouth of a Pokemon, using an outstretched tongue as a very thin mattress, while others still suggest the tongue could function as a blanket. I also have many questions about why Bandai continues to put her bedding items on as part of the businessman’s home work environment, but that’s another matter.

It is unclear if there will be a second wave of pre-orders or sales, or whether the item will be shipped separately outside of Japan. This can be devastating, however, you can at least rest easy knowing the pad is very accurate for Pokemon games, thanks to Gengar’s ability to learn both Lick and Hypnosis.
