Good morning to all OA Sport readers, and welcome to a live stream of the Tokyo 2021 Olympics basketball tournament between USA and Iran.
Round two of the men’s basketball tournament and frustrated Americans return to the field after a surprise knockout in their France debut. The USA that should fully recover after defeat and need not only victory, but a clear and convincing success against Iran, a formation that should not worry on paper Kevin Durant and his colleagues.
In the first round of Group A, the USA was defeated 83-76 by France, while Iran suffered an 84-78 defeat against the Czech Republic, and in fact was already claiming chances of reaching the second part of the tournament. On the other hand, Popovic’s men see the specter of a second-place finish in the group as highly likely, and therefore, immediately risk a quarter-final tie against one of the contenders heading for the gold medal.
