“It is very important that we move forward with full endorsement of reform of the European Stability Mechanism.” This was stated by the President of the Eurogroup, Pascal Donohue, upon his arrival at the European Council for the Euro Summit, which is being held in a comprehensive format with the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde and Donohue. The only country that has not ratified the ESM reform treaty is Italy.
Asked if he thought there could be a collapse of some banking groups, he added that he was “confident in the resilience of our banking system”.
Arrival of Prime Minister Meloni on the second day of the European Summit
On the sidelines of the second day of the summit, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a bilateral meeting with her Greek counterpart, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Diplomatic sources described the meeting as “profitable and cordial”.
