San Antonio – Becky Hammon became the first woman to run a team in NBA history, capturing the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers after Greg Popovich was sent off in the first half.
Official Tony Brown Popovich was fired with 3:56 remaining in the second quarter. Popovich shouted at Brown and entered court after DeMar DeRozan’s attempt to stop the ball and subsequent rebound attempt by Drew Eubanks was not called. Popovic was praised on his exit from court by several of the team’s family members who were present at AT&T.
Hammon took over the team’s rallies during the time limit and marched to the sidelines after Popovi طرد was sent off. Hammon was the first full-time coach in the league’s history.
Tim Duncan took over last season when Popovich was sent off against Portland on November 16, 2019. The Hall of Famer chose not to return as assistant this season.
Hamon has played three times in the US state of Colorado, playing for the New York Liberty and San Antonio Stars in the WNBA as well as abroad before retiring to join Popovich’s team in 2014.
