Luanda, September 22 23:19 – (Nova Agency) The Italian Ambassador, Cristiano Gallo, spoke at a symposium on “Environmental and Digital Transformation and Climate Diplomacy”, which was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the United Kingdom. This came in a press release issued by the Italian diplomatic representation. The event was attended by Angolan Minister of Environment Jomo Fortunato, Angolan political authorities, representatives of Angola at the Youth4Climate event in Milan, academics and various advocates of NGOs and local startups involved in the fight against climate change and in the environmental and digital transformation. The symposium, which was also broadcast as a stream, was divided into two thematic groups, dedicated to climate diplomacy and digital and climate inclusion. The audience, made up mainly of young college students, included an interactive discussion thanks to the numerous interventions and food items raised. On the sidelines of the event, the participants visited a photo exhibition by an Italian photographer based in Angola, dedicated to the effects of climate change on the traditional activities of the Angolan people in the various provinces of the country. At the end of the seminar, Ambassador Gallo and his British counterpart visited a group of 15 students from secondary schools in Luanda to a local waste treatment and recycling company, with the aim of raising awareness among young people. The importance of the proper management of waste and the adoption of virtuous behavior, at the level of the individual and society, to contribute effectively to the process of environmental transformation.
