The Masters 1000 in Cincinnati, the last big date before the US Open, ended up in the hands of German Alexander Zverev who clearly beat Russian Andrey Rublev in the final 6-2 6-3 in just 58 minutes of play.

Zverev is this year’s fourth title after victories in Acapulco, Madrid and the Tokyo Olympics. This is the fifth success in the Masters 1000 after Roma 2017, Canadian Open 2017, Madrid 2018 and Madrid 2021. Overall, it is the 17th professional title held in 2016 with success in Saint Petersburg. In the world rankings, Zverev earns a place and rises from No. 5 to No. 4, a few points ahead of Tsitsipas.
