An impressive departure for Alexander Zverev who does not miss a moment and calmly flies 4-0 forward. Rublev opens himself up in the serve, sets up his first aces in the match and maintains match five, but fails to embarrass the German who went up to 5-1 with a 12-point portion to zero in batting matches. At 5-2 for Zverev, Rublev won the first point in the answer thanks to a very lucky bar. With the third ace Zverev recovers 0-15 15 times, then the second serve at 217 km/h and a double fault by the German who, however, quietly reaches the point when Rublev is unable to control the response. Zverev is in a hurry to close, but does not turn the set point by placing a straight line out of service in the lane. But with the fourth ace, the German ensures a second setpoint that turns off by closing off an easy high direct shot. After 28 minutes, Zverev is already 6-2 ahead with 7 winners and only 2 free errors.
soliloquy

The second group also begins with Zverev very attentive and Rublev immediately in trouble. The German immediately conquers the breaking point by responding with a powerful backhand much stronger and faster than the Russian’s second serve. Zverev is in complete control, takes the first half, and confirms a 2-0 lead. Rublev appears tired, helpless, and unable to stand the irrepressible Zverev. Under 3-1 Rublev is still losing the bar and at 4-1 the German is still putting the ace on the 5-1 climb. The audience is trying to get the Russians to watch the match again, but chances are dwindling to a flash. With a good serving turn, very powerful and fast, Rublev, thanks to the eleventh ace, reduces the defect to 2-5. And after just 52 minutes of play, Zverev arrived to serve the match after losing only 4 points at the bat in the entire match. The German starts with a winning serve, but then misses a backhand (the fifth serve point is awarded in the match), but deals with a cross forehand at 30-15. In crucial moments, Zverev’s double fault, the third in the match for 30 players, is inevitable. With a straight swing, Rublev reaches his first breaking point in the game which the Russian turns thanks to another double-fault. But Zverev is not too distracted. Two errors from the Russian send Zverev two match points and then a double match point thanks to a good backhand acceleration. After 58 minutes, Rublev’s last backhand finishes at the net and Zverev was among the favorites for the upcoming US Open.
