    Yesterday, a new lava eruption center opened south of the main cone of Vulcano on an island palmThis was reported by the Volcanic Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan). Throughout the day, the eruption saw a resumption of activity. The volcanic cone recorded at least four flows between the early hours of Thursday and the early hours of Friday, resulting in an increased flow: a new tongue of lava has been formed passing through a new area which worries experts because it is urban. According to El País, the new front actually covered the Las Manchas cemetery.

    According to volcanologists at Istituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), the Cumbre Vieja volcano has recorded a resumption of activity several days after “energy lossThe new tongue of lava runs parallel to that in the south: it advances in a southwesterly direction, towards a relatively urban area, which was the main cemetery of the area until Thursday.

    The Nuestra Señora de los Angeles cemetery, located in the Las Manchas region, now covered with lava, contains the remains of 3,160 deceased and is the only crematorium on the island. The cemetery is located on the southern slope of Mount Cogot, the cemetery has so far escaped the rivers of lava that have been threatening it more and more since last September 19.
