Staying active doesnt guarantee a healthy heart, even in middle age – The News Teller

The month of February is recognized as a time to focus on heart health and raise awareness about the risks of heart disease. While heart problems are often associated with older adults, doctors are now seeing an increase in young adults facing heart issues.

One such individual is Gray Holt, a 39-year-old athlete and father who has had two ablations and was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Despite being active and in good shape, Holt was shocked to learn about his heart condition. He had premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and underwent ablations to correct them. Holt now has a loop monitor installed to continuously monitor his heart.

In response to his diagnosis, Holt has made significant changes to his diet and lifestyle, including taking cold baths. He is feeling better and is confident that he is doing everything he can to live longer. Holt encourages others to prioritize their heart health and take proactive steps to prevent heart problems.

Doctors are still unsure why Holt developed PVCs and atrial fibrillation, but he had symptoms and sought medical attention promptly. For more information on PVCs and atrial fibrillation, visit the respective links.
