Never in the very long history of rivalry between Australia and New Zealand had an event preceded the third challenge of the Bledisloe Cup (and the second day of the Rugby Championships). The challenge was initially scheduled for Saturday, August 28 in Perth, then due to the All Blacks refusing to travel to Western Australia, they appeared to be at risk of being canceled or even moving to Europe, so the move was officially taken in September. The Australian Oval has in fact announced, after a long series of negotiations, how the match will take place on Sunday 5 September, again at the Optus Stadium in the western state capital.

However, there is significant news regarding the timing of the match which, unlike what usually happens for rugby championship matches, will take place in the afternoon. Indeed, it will be 14 local time when the match kicks off, 8 in Italy: this choice was favored by the Australian rugby team to attract more fans to the stadium and take advantage of Australian Father’s Day.
Andy Marinos, president of Australian Rugby Club, emphasized the lack of tickets available for the match, and how the team is very keen to do well against the Perth community.

This match will be a prelude to a month of great rugby, which will be tested almost entirely in Queensland. Indeed, it is there, between the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville, that the remaining eight matches of the Rugby Championship 2021 will take place, which will run through October 2.
