Nuclear submarines against China

A tripartite agreement between the United States, Great Britain and Australia will allow the latter to deploy nuclear-powered submarines provided by the first two countries. A new and unexpected military alliance, called the Aukus, has sent China on a rampage that seems to be its unspecified target. In fact, the alliance aims to strengthen the US and Western presence in Asia and contain China’s goals. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said the three countries “seriously damage regional peace and stability, intensify the arms race and harm international non-proliferation efforts.”

The three leaders made it clear that Australia would not deploy nuclear weapons, but would use nuclear propulsion systems for ships to protect itself from threats. Announcing the surprise deal to the press, US President Joe Biden, joined by phone British leader Boris Johnson and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, emphasized that he wanted to preserve a “free and open Indo-Pacific” and deal with the current “strategic climate”. Previous Agreement between France and Australia
