Negan The Walking Dead is now a magic pool card

Wizards of the Coast is collaborating with AMC’s The Walking Dead For Magic The Gathering Secret Lair drop. Earlier this year, MTG players got their first look at the Zombie Token Card, and now the Wizards are revealing that Negan is coming to play in the upcoming Limited Time Group.

The Walking Dead Secret Lair Drop will feature brand new cards for MTG, and will be available for pre-order during a limited time between October 4 and 12 – starting at 11:30 PM ET on October 4. One of the new cards is none other than Negan, the infamous villain from the series who has no problem hitting heads with a baseball bat, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the show. Check out the card below.

Negan is a mythical 4/3 creature with a very fit ability. When the card is placed on the battlefield, you and the target player choose a creature that the player controls, then that creature – or critters – is sacrificed and you receive a Treasure Token. This treasure symbol gives you colorless mana upon clicking and then sacrificing it.

“The game design team has really succeeded in expressing these rich characters with just a few numbers and a few lines of grammar text,” Mark Hagen, Wizards Product Engineer, told GameSpot. Negan is one of my favorite examples; when he arrives on the battlefield, he has a unique rule that forces one of your opponents to play this sick mind game where they have to choose one of their creatures and sacrifice them, but you can also go in and trick their heads into sacrificing more than they had to! It’s a fun moment! In the game, and you feel exactly like a real Negan would do. “

Putting The Walking Dead characters into MTG makes sense, because zombies have been a part of the arcade game for decades. “When we first started thinking about collaborating with an outside partner, Wizards put together a big list of worlds and characters that we thought would be natural and exciting,” Heggen said. “The Walking Dead is the power of nature when it comes to telling modern horror stories, so it immediately jumped to us as a great opportunity. I knew the team at AMC would be great partners, so we called them and everything just clicked into place.”

If you want to obtain these cards yourself, you will have to order them from Secret Lair website Between October 4 and 12, and if you miss it, you won’t be able to get it from Wizards of the Coast in the future. It is a one-time deal.
