Dutch company De Laat Koudetechniek has implemented a project in Montague, Australia. “A unique concept is being used in this Australian ripening plant, where self-employed ripening companies can rent the cells. Individual entrepreneurs can then ripen their own bananas or avocados. As the ripening rooms are used by different people with different products, this has been the case Necessary to allow these things to be controlled individually and remotely. In this way, each company can control the temperature, air flow and humidity in the room without having information on other mature cells,” explains Adiraan van Beek.
Each process ends with the purchaser’s own ripening protocol, which is automatically generated by the ripening unit, which determines how and the temperature to ripen the products. Natural coolant is used in all cold rooms.
“I chose Montague De Laat Koudetechniek because Australian ripening plants consume much more energy than ours. Equipping the maturation rooms in our warehouse and then assembling them in Australia allowed this project to be carried out on the other side of the world, despite the logistical challenges.”
