In the name of Roman Reigns and Steve Austin: 150,000 in Texas for WrestleMania

Dallas – Defined by Americans as “the most amazing two-night event in WrestleMania history,” the 38th edition of WrestleMania, the Super Bowl of the wrestling world, did not disappoint. On Saturday and Sunday nights, the world’s most important sports-entertainment company did not disappoint with a unique show, filling AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys football team twice in a row.

Show for one hundred and fifty thousand

77,899 spectators in the first half, another 78,453 spectators in the second, not counting appearances in related shows (episodes of SmackDown, NXT and Raw), the Hall of Fame that featured – among other things – the legend of The Undertaker in Ark of Glory and Wwe Axxess, This is a kind of “Disney World of Wrestling” where fans can find all kinds of gadgets, meet their heroes and actually get into this very special world (in the middle there was even a wedding that was celebrated in the presence of some superstars in Wwe), which has in the States United followers have nothing to envy in the NBA or the NFL. And WrestleMania in particular is an annual event of colossal proportions, an investment that every year leads to real competitions by American cities to get organized and thus bring in tourists and enthusiasts to spend (a lot) in the lucky location: it is enough to think so. Six years ago, when it was also regulated by the City of Texas, $3.7 million was raised through merchandise sales alone.

    Among the entertainment…

In addition to the commercial side, there is also the field of entertainment, which as usual in these two days offered some matches of high thickness from an artistic point of view (see one between Edge and AJ Styles or the other Feminine title Raw between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair) and another directed exclusively at The most trivial and promotional part, as confirmed by commitments in the episode of comedian Johnny Knoxville, influential boxer Logan Paul and former football player (today Wwe suspended) Pat McAfee. There was no shortage of commercials dedicated to local fans and long-time fans, who were able to admire the return of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (of Texas and, therefore, undisputedly, the idol of the fans in Arlington), as he challenged (and won) Kevin Owens and then gave life to the star With Chairman Vince McMahon (76 years old, but still in good shape), as well as one of the richest men in the United States.

    …and great matches

Among the surprises, one can’t help but mention Cody Rhodes’ return to The Company (who beat Seth Rollins in a superb match) six years after his farewell, an important step given that the son of legend Dusty Rhodes was instrumental in the founding of Aew (the competition ), which until two months ago was vice president. For the main event that concluded two days of WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar (former UFC Heavyweight Champion) and Roman Reigns competed in the ring, with the latter winning and thus leading to a return to both world belts. In short, a high-profile show that never again betrayed expectations. As of yesterday, promotion for next year’s event in Hollywood (April 1 and 2 at SoFI Stadium) has already begun. On the other hand, a machine like this never stops.
