The full track schedule for the 2022 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park has been revealed. After two years of absence, the Australian GP is ready to open its doors to F1 and the public. The CEO of the Melbourne event has ensured meticulous work is done in terms of safety, as reported by FormulaPassion.it. After the Djokovic affair, the circus event will actually only welcome vaccinated people, playing above all on the certainty of large open spaces. Therefore, it promises to be an interesting track that may be challenging for drivers.

Imola 2022: Grand Prix will be unrestricted

    GP-Australia: All the news

The track events will take place over four days on the new Albert Park scheme, with sprint practice on the track from Thursday and Formula 1 practice sessions beginning on Friday. There will be two free one-hour Formula 1 practice sessions on Friday at 1pm and 4pm local time, followed by a third free practice session on Saturday at 1pm. Qualifying will start at 4pm on Saturday before the Australian Grand Prix which starts at 3pm on Sunday. For the first time, the entire AGP weekend will be held in Eastern Australian Standard Time instead of Eastern Australian Daylight Time. In 2006, the event was split into two time zones, when on the Sunday morning DST ended the race. For 2022, Formula 1 will be powered by a three-tier bottom card led by Supercars for what will be the third round of its season. The Australian series will run four 100km races at the weekend, one on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.

    New tires and rules

Both races feature mandatory four-tire stops, with Dunlops’ hard and soft compound in action. Each rider will receive a total of six sets of tires available from the start of qualifying onwards. The networks will be identified through four separate qualifying sessions split between Thursday noon and Friday morning. Supercars on the supporting bill will join the Carrera Cup and S5000. For the Carrera Cup, it will mark the first round of the season and the first domestic competitive appearance of the all-new 992 Cup Car. As for the S5000, Albert Park will be the third round of the 2022 Australian Drivers’ Championship. It will be the first full V8 open-wheel class appearance at the AGP, after the 2020 event was halted due to the pandemic. Demo races for a number of historic cars will also be held.
