Golden seat, Joe Montemurro relives the adventure with Juventus Women

The Juventus Women’s coach talks 360 degrees about her footballing life after winning the prestigious award at Coverciano

An unforgettable season for Joe Montemoro and his Juventus: Super Cup, Scudetto and Italian Cup. The coach, originally from Australia, could not have asked for more from last year’s competitions, both personally and collectively.

At Coverciano, he was awarded the Panchina d’oro, a prestigious award as best coach in Serie A Women’s 2021/22. Thus, Montemoro becomes the first foreign coach to win this award.

The Australian coach embodies the “never stop dreaming” philosophy: “Getting to Juventus was always a dream, like a dream to coach in Italy. It was fantastic. It was my team as a kid, since I lived in Australia. .

The season was dominated by the whites and blacks at the national level: “Juventus should always win and not make any difference. We try to do that with an important style kick. It’s an access point but we always want to grow in Italy but also in Europe.”

Three football competitions that are growing more and more won in Italy. “He has amazed me a lot from a technical and tactical point of view. He is growing and it is very positive, also in the way he is treated by the press and the federation,” the coach commented.

Looking back on his career and the sacrifices he’s made to get to the here and now, he says, “The year he spent at Coverciano was the most special. It’s definitely the key stage in my development to get here. I was from the other side of the world and worked with colleagues who had important jobs. I was involved.” A lot and I had very important feelings. Even the Panchina d’Oro day was very important.”

The football philosophy is enriched by many experiences: “The football I propose is a proactive game, always controlling the match with the aim of putting on a show. In Italy, I hope to put forward new ideas for its development, which is the concept of universality that I acquired in England and Australia.”
