Victory at the Montreal GP definitely boosted Tadej Pogacar’s prices towards the World Championship for road cycling that will take place in Wollongong, Australia on September 25th.
The Slovenian, the protagonist in only four races after second place in the Tour de France, was a huge success, Especially considering the name of the opponent he beat in the enemy: Wout Van Aert. Montreal is a track that has many features in common with the Australian track and could give some pointers towards the world championship.
“We can go to Australia with confidence – Pogacar told Cyclism D’actu – At the moment it looks good. Have a nice day at the World Cup. It’s a track reminiscent of Montreal but it’s a much longer race and so it’s going to be really tough.”

A careful program on the Slovenian with a strong focus on the Australian race: “I rested a lot. Last month I managed to prepare well for the end of the season. You have to be at your best to win at this point in the season and after the tour I wasn’t.”
