    The strategic dialogue comes within the framework of the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the United Kingdom in September 2021, during which the leaders of the two countries signed the “Partnership for the Future”, which serves as a roadmap to lead progress in bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Countries that have developed a special relationship over decades of close cooperation and historical friendship. The United Kingdom is one of the most important strategic allies of the United Arab Emirates, as the two countries share common concerns and interests and work together to enhance regional security, achieve economic prosperity, and address pressing global challenges.
    During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the strength of bilateral relations, noting the breadth of cooperation between the two countries, their common history, the depth of friendships and relations between the two peoples, and the constant commitment to deepening relations. On the background of the strategic dialogue, Abdullah bin Zayed said, “The permanent ties between the Emirates

    On international developments of common interest, the two ministers welcomed the cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates in multilateral forums, and stressed the importance of dialogue and building bridges to promote regional peace and prosperity. The officials discussed the importance of continuing coordination in the UN Security Council, and the British side praised the UAE’s role in recent Security Council resolutions on Afghanistan.

    On the issue of mitigating climate change, both sides affirmed their commitment to combating climate change and cooperating on long-term projects that facilitate a just energy transition. In this regard, the officials expressed their desire to enhance the ongoing close cooperation on clean energy, climate finance, adaptation, and nature and food systems. The officials also discussed the UAE’s ambitious agenda for the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which is scheduled to be hosted at Expo City Dubai in November 2023.

    Ministers lauded trade and investment relations between the UK and the UAE, and noted the successful increase in trade in goods and services between the two countries, which currently stands at an all-time high of £21.6 billion (AED 99.3 billion) in the four quarters to the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. They welcomed the success of the “Sovereign Investment Partnership” signed in 2021 and highlighted the support of the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates to expand trade and investment relations between the two countries in areas of mutual benefit, including through the fourth round of free trade agreement negotiations between the United Kingdom and the GCC Gulf Cooperation Council will be hosted by the United Kingdom by the end
