Washington, December 17, 2021 (WAM) – A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates and the United States, led by Lieutenant-General M. Issa Saif bin Abdan Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, and Dr. Colin H. Cale, US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, met in Washington, DC as part of the annual Joint Military Dialogue (JMD).
The Military Defense Forum, held from December 15-16, was the primary bilateral defense forum for strengthening the UAE-US defense partnership, including reviewing common security interests and discussing a wide range of strategic relationship objectives and challenges in the region.
The delegations discussed a wide range of regional and defense issues, including the current regional security situation, counter-terrorism, international maritime security, and ways to enhance security cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The United States praised the UAE’s role as a key partner in facing regional challenges.
The two parties agreed to move forward in strengthening this strategic partnership between the two countries as a partnership based on the priorities of common interests.
