AT&T Customers Affected by Network Outage to Receive $5 Credit
AT&T has announced that customers who were impacted by a network outage on February 22 will receive a $5 credit as compensation for the inconvenience. The outage, which lasted for most of the day, caused tens of thousands of customers to lose cellphone service.
CEO John Stankey stated that the $5 credit is the cost of “essentially a full day of service” for affected customers. The outage was the result of an incorrect process used during network expansion and was not a cyber attack.
The outage not only affected AT&T customers, but also impacted customers of rival carriers and caused disruptions in 911 service in some municipalities. Individuals and small businesses who were affected by the outage are eligible for the $5 credit.
Unfortunately, AT&T Business, Prepaid, and Cricket customers are ineligible for the credit. However, the company has assured that they will be provided with other options. The $5 credit will be automatically applied to customers’ accounts within two billing cycles.
AT&T is working closely with its business customers to address their concerns and will offer alternative options to prepaid customers who were impacted by the outage. The company is dedicated to ensuring that all affected customers are properly compensated and their issues are resolved promptly.
