After updating to IOS 14 or MacOS 11 Big Sur You have likely encountered AirPods Randomly switch between your Apple devices. The new Auto Switch feature is supposed to make your life easier, but for many – really including yours – it’s annoying.

In theory, the new feature will be able to identify in real time which Apple device you want to use AirPods with. For example, if you are streaming music to your device Iphone You start playing a video clip on a file IPAD, AirPods should convert to iPad. But in reality, the feature is rather tricky. I know I have had issues with my iPhone that took over my AirPods connection when I unlock it while listening to music on my iPad.

Thankfully, there’s a way to turn the feature off. Just be sure to follow the steps below on every Apple device you use your AirPods with, or at least, devices you don’t want your AirPods to automatically switch between.

You will need to repeat these steps on any iPhone or iPad you use AirPods with.

Turn off autoplay on iPhone and iPad

With AirPods connected to your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:

1. open the Settings Implementation.
2. Faucet Bluetooth.
3. Tap on the “i” icon next to the name of your AirPods.
4.Scroll down through the options until you find the one named Connect to this iPhone / iPad; Click on it.
5.Specify When last connected to this iPhone / iPad Then undo the Settings app.

Turn off autoplay on Mac

Connect your AirPods to your Mac, then follow these steps:

1. Open System Preferences.
2. Specify Bluetooth.
3. Click Options Next to your AirPods name.
4.Click on the drop-down menu labeled Connect to this Mac.
5. Specify When you last connected to this Mac Then click Completed And close System Preferences.

With Auto Switch off on all of your Apple devices, your AirPods will connect to the last device they were connected to when they were turned on, just as they did before iOS 14. Then if you want to start using them with another of your Apple devices, you can Switch to it by selecting it in the AirPlay section of Control Center.
