Cameron promoted each event on social media as part of a movement called Sing It Louder USA, which claims to be “singing Christmas carols in communities across the United States … in response to government dictators who tell us how to celebrate Christmas.”
The Oaks published a statement describing the event as “irresponsible but constitutionally protected” and affirming that it had asked the protesters not to gather in the parking lot.
We do not condone this irresponsible – and constitutionally protected – peaceful protest event planned. We share your concerns and have informed the sheriff’s office. Additionally, we contacted the event organizer to request that they not use The Oaks as their venue.

Several online commentators indicated on the posts that the mall could have closed the protest.
One person wrote on Twitter: “To be clear, there is no constitutional right to protest against private property. You can fire them if you choose to too. The public health threat is 100% a good reason to protect your employees and customers who wear masks.”
A deadline has been reached with the owner of The Oaks, Macerich Properties, to respond to these comments but no response has been received.
