AT&T to Credit Customers Affected by Nationwide Outage
In a recent announcement, AT&T revealed plans to provide credits to customers impacted by a nationwide outage in its cellular service. The disruption, which occurred on Thursday, left tens of thousands of customers without service and also affected those trying to reach AT&T users.
Apologizing for the inconvenience caused, AT&T officials acknowledged the frustration experienced by customers and expressed regret for letting them down. Each affected customer will receive a $5 credit on their AT&T Wireless account as a gesture of goodwill.
The outage, which began at 2 a.m. on Thursday, saw over 73,000 customers reporting outages across the country. The disruption even affected the FirstNet emergency response network, highlighting the significance of reliable communication services.
Although service was fully restored by 2 p.m. on Thursday, the incident prompted initial speculation on the cause, with some attributing it to solar flares. However, further investigation revealed an error in coding as the actual reason for the outage.
To prevent similar incidents in the future, AT&T is taking steps to strengthen its systems and ensure better reliability for customers. It is important to note that the $5 credit will not apply to AT&T Business, AT&T Prepaid, or Cricket customers.
