Historical agreement between Italy and the United Kingdom in the matter of immigration. After the bilateral agreement between Prime Minister Meloni and British Prime Minister Sunak, which led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding touching many important issues, such as climate, energy and support for Ukraine, a large part was devoted to the issue of immigration. The obligation assumed by the two countries to cooperate in this matter is a fundamental commitment, especially as it punishes the principle of cooperation in defending external borders, combating human traffickers, and fighting criminal groups that benefit from illegal travel by encouraging them. This has always been the way Fratelli d’Italia believes it is essential to stop the phenomenon of immigration, and the fact that the UK stands firmly on Italy’s side is very important and of great political importance. It is a great success for the Prime Minister, which makes Italy stronger in the world and provides more tools to start a structural solution to migration problems.”
