Agreement for a 200MW / 400MWh Blyth Battery Energy Storage System
Paris, January 5, 2023 – NHOA (NHOA.PAformerly Engie EPS) to announce that, as expected in a trading update published January 2, the signing of NHOA Energy, in a consortium with Elecnor, for the supply (as well as design, operation, operation and maintenance) contract of 200MW/400MWh Blyth battery energy storage system in South Australia With Neoen, the leading independent producer of renewable energy.
The system will be used primarily to support the production of Neoen’s Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm and supply 70MW of renewable energy to BHP, the world leader in natural resources, 24/7. Finally, the plant will be equipped with mode converter technology small network (network formation), which makes it possible to provide basic services to stabilize the national grid, traditionally provided by gas and coal-fired plants.
NHOA Energy will act in the consortium as a supplier of energy storage technology, while Elecnor will act as an integrator of auxiliary electrical and mechanical systems. Construction of the Blyth Battery project will begin immediately and commissioning is scheduled for 2025.
The Blyth Battery system is NHOA Energy’s second largest global project in Australia, after the 200 MW storage system in Kwinana, Western Australia, and confirms NHOA Energy, through its Australian platform in Perth, as a major player in one of the world’s most important energy storage markets.
“We are grateful to Newen for this iconic project. Once again NHOA Energy proves to be a reliable partner for the major global players in the energy field to implement cutting-edge solutions in the field of energy storage globally. This project follows the significant contracts in Asia, North and South America in 2022 that have brought NHOA Energy’s portfolio of projects under construction worldwide to 1,400 MWh.”commented Lucy Canius DujardinAnd the Executive Vice President – Global Markets and Development at NHOA Energy.
“We look forward to implementing this storage system for Neoen and with Elecnor, which will set the benchmark for demonstrating the potential of renewable energy generation along with storage systems as the future of energy supply in Australia.” NHOA Energy is determined to play a leading role in Australia’s energy transition and will continue to enhance its technology capabilities to accelerate this transition.”he added Ashley ManganoAnd the Vice President – Australia and Pacific of NHOA Energy.
