America/United States – dedicated video messages for Sunday Global Mission
New York (Agenzia Fides) – Personal messages at the local level are the basis of the next communications campaign of the Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) in the United States of America for the World Mission on Sunday.
This year diocesan PMS administrators and staff in the United States will put their faces in the video messages that were recorded during the national meeting held in California last June (see Ag. Fides 06/14/2022).
The 30-second message that will be detailed in the final video will be posted on different parish websites and used on social media and will include this call to all: “On this World Mission Day, join Catholics from all over the world. In prayer and giving generously to the Church’s missionary work. Thank you Thank you for your help!” Then some offices expanded this basic message and others recorded it in Spanish as well.
“It is important to use all avenues available to us to make requests for prayer and assistance during World Mission Day,” explained National Director of the United States Monthly Service, Monsignor Kieran E. Harrington. “And this personal appeal to the local administrator – the face of the Pontifical Apostolic Assemblies of that diocese – we believe will be effective.” A complete “package” of posters being made available to US nationals is part of the information campaign. In addition to the theme of the World Mission Day message – “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1, 8) – the poster presents the importance of giving on World Mission Day, emphasizing the many needs: the work of catechists, priests and religious, as well as missionary and parish schools. Additional digital materials, including parish handouts, announcements, and homily help, are in preparation and will be posted on the dedicated PMS page.
