Rome – The Enit-Qantas Agreement revitalizes Australian tourism in Italy. The first direct flight from Rome to Perth was launched thanks to a collaboration between Qantas and Aeroporte di Roma and a synergy with Enit to promote and relaunch related events. The goal is to double the presence of Australian travelers who in the month of June alone identified more than 16,862 air bookings with a clear recovery compared to 200 in the same month the previous year.
The National Tourism Agency promoted 4 New Route events in Australia including presenting the trip to major Australian media in Sydney with an Italian lunch for the 25 invited media. A dedicated event in Perth attended by approximately 200 invited media and opinion leaders, featuring Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, Prime Minister of Western Australia Mark McGowan, Qantas Chairman Richard Guyder, CEO of Australian Tourism Babe Harrison Director of Enit Australia Headquarters Emanuele Attanasio. The trip was presented to a wider audience during the Republic Day celebrations organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney, in collaboration with Enit and the Italian Order, within the framework of the Museum of Contemporary Art, in front of the famous Opera House.
The Italian destination also continues to be promoted abroad, through out-of-home co-marketing campaigns in the major urban arteries of Sydney and Perth. “The trip represents a great refreshment and a breath of fresh air for the strip. The great artistic towns, Cinque Terre, the lakes of the pre-alpine belt, and the Amalfi Coast are still the main destinations of interest to Australian tourists. There is a noticeable delicacy to destinations with greater regional significance, which stand out for their food Typical, its wine and way of life, such as the Venetian Lombard region, the villages of Tuscany and the islands. The south is constantly growing, especially in Apulia, Sicily and Campania.
Moreover, with the Golf Show scheduled to take place in Australia in October, the goal is to implement tourism linked to high spending in the long term” stated Roberta Garibaldi, CEO of Enit.
