All events not to be missed in Monte Carlo
These are the days of major international events in the Principality of Monaco with the music of the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival until December 3, the cycling in Monaco Peking on November 28 and the awards for football champions with the 19th Golden Foot award on November 29. Radio Monte Carlo is the official broadcaster of these prestigious initiatives and all information is on our website.
But there is also a file Tribute to Josephine Baker. It will be November 30, the day when the remains of the famous singer will be in the Pantheon in Paris. Until today, Josephine Becker rests in the Munich cemetery. She was a very close friend of Princess Grace and was called twice to sing at the Red Cross Concert in Monaco in 1969 and 1974. Monaco and the Société des Pas de Mer will remember her with a musical evening, an evocative collection of unreleased songs, photographs and a conference dedicated to his life, in the American Pub of the Hotel de Paris, a meeting place that has welcomed celebrities from all over the world. Josephine Baker, in addition to being a great singer, was also committed to the cause of women and anti-racism. Born in 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, she was the only woman to give a speech for work and freedom, during the March on Washington, alongside Martin Luther King in 1963 and in front of a crowd of 250,000 people.
