Abu Dhabi, October 31, 2021 (WAM) – The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has recently entered into a partnership with the British National Economic Crime Center (NECC) to conduct an exercise aimed at combating the smuggling of large amounts of money and cash. Gold from UK airports.
One of the main goals of the initiative was to understand how organized crime attempts to move illicit assets, such as the flow of money and gold.
An important goal was to fill in intelligence gaps and build a better understanding of the level of risk, which would be used to guide future policy proposals.
Simon York, Director and Investigation Officer, HM Fraud, Revenue and Customs Investigations, said: “We have a long history of partnering with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security in the UAE on common threats and our partnership is vital to fulfilling our collective role in combating organized crime and in bringing the Money launderer. As a key operational and strategic partner, the support and expertise of the authorities is key to developing a broader partnership between the UK and the UAE to tackle illicit finance.”
