Germany, the weekly infection rate returns to more than 100 cases
The weekly infection rate of coronavirus in Germany per 100,000 inhabitants, today, Sunday, reached 106.3 cases. This is the first time since mid-May that the number of cases has been exceeded. The Robert Koch Institute, the official agency responsible for controlling the epidemic, has verified in the past 24 hours 13,732 new cases and 23 more deaths across the country, for a total of 4.46 million infections and 95,100 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic. It was also announced in the past few hours that Germany added Croatia and Bulgaria to the list of high-risk countries, and established five days of quarantine for passengers who have not been vaccinated or recovered from the disease from these countries.
Croatia and Bulgaria join three other EU member states (Romania, Lithuania and Slovenia) that were already on this list, which includes 70 countries in total. The epidemic is experiencing a revival in the countries of Central Europe, as well as in Russia, due to the advent of winter and the slowdown in the vaccination process (in Germany, the proportion of people with the full program is 66 per hundred). However, the German government is sticking to the relatively low number of inpatients to avoid imposing new restrictive measures.
