It’s 17-year-old Tom, the opening half of the great Michael, who went from Harlequins to Reds.
Tom Linagh, like his father Michael, plays the first half.
Born in Italy seventeen years ago, the youngest of two children of the legend of the Wallabies and the number 10 of Benetton in the nineties, he decided to return to his homeland, where he had never lived before.
Unlike his brother Louis, the budding winger of the Harlequins champions in England and wooed by the Italian national team, Tom dreams of becoming a Wallaby as a father, which is why he found a home in Queensland, in the Reds.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing for Australia – boy says – I might not get the chance, but I still want to dream about it and the Reds look like a good place to try and achieve my goals. I love the kind of rugby being played here.”
“I am very proud of the decision that Tom – who played 100 times for the Reds and with Australia played 72 caps and the 1991 World Cup – took his way in a decisive fashion when he could simply try. To follow in his brother’s footsteps,” said Michael Lena, who has played 100 times for the Reds and with Australia played 72 caps and the 1991 World Cup.
“He’s been fortunate that the Reds have given him that opportunity, so far he hasn’t done anything yet: it’s up to him to pretend now.”
But do not think that in a family like this, the example of such a great father is especially followed: “When I make some speeches about when I play at home, I always get a lot of beatings from boys. In general, we keep unimpressive: I have no memories Or keepsakes hanging in the house or something like that.”
Lynagh’s youngest player has signed a contract with the Reds until 2023. He will have two seasons to prove his quality in Australian rugby, hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps. But his eligibility to join Italy and England, for a longer period, will remain an open door to the future.
