    OECD, GDP accelerates in the second quarter: best performers for UK and Italy

    If we compare the economic activity of the second quarter of 2021 with i pre-pandemic levels (Q4 2019), GDP is still 0.7 percentage point lower in the OECD region. Among the seven largest economies, the UK sees the largest gap (-4.4%), followed by Italy (-3.8%), France and Germany (-3.3%). The United States is the only major economy to actually return to pre-pandemic levels in the second quarter, with GDP exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 0.8 points.
