Chinese 4x200 world record and gold - Australia third after USA

The women’s 4x200m freestyle Chinese relay overturned all expectations by winning the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting the new world record with a ratio of 7:40.33.

The Australians, the favorites for the dinner, took third place with a time of 7:41.29 seconds, behind the Americans, with the silver medal with a time of 7: 40.73 seconds.

    Comparison steps

Australia’s previous world record was 7:41.50 at the 2019 World Championships. On that occasion the Australians took the record away from China, who signed it in 2009 at 7:42,08. Now China has regained the world record and won the Olympic gold.

However, China, America and Australia once swam below the now previous world record. Tokyo 2020’s top three now make up the first 3 in history, while Canada’s 7:43.77 is the 11th all-time.
