United Kingdom: trips abroad are only permitted from Monday for essential reasons
London, May 01 12:13 – (Nova Agency) – Residents of nursing homes in England will be able to leave their facilities for “low risk” travel without having to go into solitary confinement for 14 days. This is what the London government announced today, specifying that the rules will be relaxed from next Tuesday, May 4, allowing for walks or visiting the park without self-isolation. Under the changes in England, residents traveling must be accompanied by an employee or designated visitor and must follow social distancing at all times. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is “happy” that residents can “now leave their homes to meet their loved ones in the open.” “With the data continuing to move in the right direction and with the easing of restrictions, it is my priority to continue to increase visits to residents in the coming weeks in a safe and controlled manner,” he said. The UK government is expected to revise its self-isolation requirements for other types of visits when it reaches the next stage of the government’s roadmap to easing restrictions on 17 May. (Rel)
