Saturday Night Live for 40 Years on NBC
sky Owned by media group Comcast, which also owns NBC, SNL has been on the air for over 40 years. According to reports, SNL representatives are currently in London to discuss a deal with Sky. This comes after the BBC began broadcasting full episodes of NBC’s SNL in 2020 on its Sky Comedy channel. Previously, SNL clips were only available for viewing on YouTube in the UK. However, a British series called Saturday Live, influenced by SNL, featuring actors and comedians such as Harry Enfield, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Ben Elton, was originally broadcast on Channel 4 from 1985 to 1988. Later on ITV until 2007.
The series will likely include British comedians and talents although the cast has yet to be revealed, as the series is in its early stages of development. However, unlike the US version which starts at 11:30pm on Saturday nights, the UK version may not air later than that time in the UK. Created by Lorne Michaels, Saturday Night Live Shows a series of live late night comics. Michaels is currently the show and executive producer. Produced by Broadway Video and SNL Studios, every episode of SNL sees a celebrity guest in front of a studio audience. Sketches often make fun of American culture and popular politics.
