“After the exceptional sporting results achieved by Italy in 2021 – says Simona Spreafico, the new president of Il Circolo – It seemed right to start from a mathematical proposition to imagine an innovative literary competition. Mathematical sentiment became a metaphor, and the idea of the match point, in particular, seemed to us a great literary inspiration: even in life we are constantly faced with moments in balance, moments that are decisive, fleeting, small or great. With Match Point, we want to give those who write in Italian and live in the UK the opportunity to tell and talk about them.”
