It’s a manhunt in the UK after a 9-year-old girl was murdered at her home in Liverpool on Monday night, when a man broke into the house to escape a gunman who was chasing him. Police report. The little girl, Olivia Pratt-Korbel, died at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool shortly after the shooting, which occurred around 10pm.
The girl’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, 46, was shot in the wrist as she tried to close the main door to the gunman, whom the family did not know.
“This is a horrific and frightening attack that will affect our communities and I want to take this opportunity once again to appeal to anyone who knows who is responsible for this attack to come forward and give us these names,” the director said. Merseyside police officer Serena Kennedy speaks at the press conference. “We need to find all those responsible, not just the gunman. We need to find who supplied the guns and who organized this horrific incident,” Kennedy said.
According to Police Reconstruction, it all started when a gunman opened fire on two other men on the road outside Korbel’s house. Police said that when Cheryl Korbel opened the door to see what was happening, one of the targets made his way home. The gunman chased after him and fired indiscriminately into the house while Korbel was trying to close the door. The man who took refuge in the house sustained injuries to the upper part of his body and was taken to hospital. The gunman survived.
