Apple has released updates for iOS 16.6 And iPadOS 16.6, Updates arriving just over a month ago from iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5.
Overall, the House of Cupertino states that the iOS 16.6 / iPadOS 16.6 update “provides important fixes and security improvements for iPhone and is recommended for everyone.”
Apple doesn’t refer to details in the release notes, but the update includes fixes that address important security issues and So it is recommended to install them as soon as possible. Three more kernel-related vulnerabilities have been resolved, including one that could change the state of the latter, and a vulnerability in WebKit, the “engine” of Safari and other browsers, has also been resolved.
How to install the update on iOS 16.6
As always, you can install the update directly from your smartphone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
After requesting the update (press “Download and Install”), it will be downloaded. The system is preparing the update and after a few minutes it will be installed automatically.
Installing the update requires at least 50% battery or being connected to a power source.
If the update doesn’t appear right away, don’t worry: it doesn’t appear to all users right away and you may have to wait a little longer.
If you can’t update wirelessly, you can use iTunes to get the latest iOS update from your Mac or PC (or Mac Finder with newer operating systems) with the device connected via USB.
