many years ago, The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the US State Department manage Fulbright Program: An important exchange program between Italy and the United States in the fields of science, technology and culture.
Until September 9, 2022, it is possible to participate in the Call for Italian Language Assistants in the United States, FLTA (Foreign Language Teaching Assistant), for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Fulbright Invitational – FLTA Program It is intended for a maximum of four colleagues It offers young Italian and/or English teachers and specialized young graduates to become teachers An opportunity to improve their teaching methodology, helping to enhance the teaching of Italian language and culture at American universities, in anticipation of a future career as a teacher of US language and culture upon return to Italy.
During the period of assistance – 9 months, two semesters, from August 2023 to May 2024 – the fellows will have the task of assisting a US teacher teaching Italian or teaching their course up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. They must attend at least two undergraduate courses per semester, one in American Studies and one in subjects related to language teaching.
The Fulbright – FLTA Scholarships are for Italian citizens who have the following requirements:
– residency in italy Or maybe in a european country At the time of application and throughout the selection procedure until departure for the United States;
– Theaura Three years, specialist, master or old system Obtained in Italy at 5 years before the competition deadline;
– Teaching experience can be demonstrated and substantiated;
– Fluency in English Proven in TOEFL with a minimum score of 79/120 or by IELTS with an overall score of at least 6.0/9.0, Academic Status.
Among the preferential requirements:
- Residence, residence or degree obtained at a university located in one of the following regions: Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia
- Little or no study experience in the United States
Among the criteria for exclusion from the call: possession of dual Italian and American citizenship.
Given the ongoing health emergency, changes to the programme, including the possibility of conducting remote teaching and assistance, even from Italy, cannot be ruled out.
