For the 2.8 GW offshore wind farm, Orsted signed a contract with a British company to build 240 kilometers of HVDC cable.
To build the onshore lines for the 2,852 MW Hornsea 3 wind farm, Orsted signed a contract with British construction and engineering firm VolkerFitzpatrick.
Volker Fitzpatrick will install 240 km of coastal cable as part of the contract, which will be executed by Volker Fitzpatrick once Ørsted makes a final investment decision on Hornsey 3. These cables will connect the offshore wind farm from Weyburn Landing in Norfolk to the main substation of the Norwich National Grid.
VolkerFitzpatrick will take care of all civil works required for HVDC electrical wiring, national grid connection, cabling installation and ground restoration after the HVDC cable is configured, which includes tree planting and hedges.
160 km will separate Hornsey 3 from the Yorkshire coast.
