Although he is best known as the co-founder of Microsoft and one of the richest people on the planet, Gates has shown an interest in agriculture at least since the early 2000s, letting money flow into the agricultural sector in developing countries.
Bill Gates and his wife Melinda are named the largest landowners in America, having owned nearly 1,000 square miles in more than a dozen states.
According to Earth Report, its main characteristics are as follows:
- Louisiana 27,952 acres;
- Arkansas 19395 Itari;
- Nebraska 8,331.6 hectares;
- Arizona 10,420 acres;
- Washington State 6,514.22 hectares.
The magazine quoted the Wall Street Journal file by Michael Larson, the director of the fund the Gates family hired in 1994 to diversify their assets, saying the couple had invested in more than 100,000 acres of farmland in the United States. But that number has doubled since then.
Since the early 2000s, Gates and his wife have been involved in various efforts to help farmers in developing countries. About a year ago, the billionaire created Gates Ag One to promote agriculture in the poorest countries.
