Porsche Unveils New Sport Classic Model: A Throwback with a Unique Twist
Porsche continues to captivate car enthusiasts around the world with its latest addition to the Heritage Design Edition series, the Sport Classic. This new model, based on the 911 Turbo, promises a one-of-a-kind driving experience and an unmistakable style.
To give the Sport Classic its distinct look, Porsche has widened its body and added a bespoke carbon fiber hood. But perhaps the most eye-catching feature is the Carrera GT-inspired carbon “double bubble” roof, which adds an extra touch of nostalgia. The car also boasts a carbon fiber ducktail rear spoiler, which not only adds to its charm but also features new inlets underneath to channel air into the engine’s intake system.
The throwback vibe is further enhanced by the inclusion of Fuchs-style five-spoke centerlock wheels and a Porsche Heritage badge on the intake grille. These subtle details serve as a nod to the brand’s rich history and evoke a sense of pure nostalgia.
Step inside the Sport Classic, and you’ll find an interior that effortlessly blends classic and modern elements. The car is outfitted with Pepita cloth upholstery, semi-aniline leather, and dark Paldao wood trim. White and green accents add a touch of vibrancy, perfectly complementing the car’s sleek exterior.
Under the hood, Porsche has made some powertrain changes to the Sport Classic. It comes with rear-wheel-drive instead of all-wheel-drive and features a seven-speed manual transmission. While these adjustments limit the car’s output to 543 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, they result in a weight reduction of nearly 200 lbs compared to the Turbo model. This translates to a slightly improved power-to-weight ratio, delivering an exhilarating and engaging driving experience.
Chassis upgrades are another highlight of the Sport Classic. The model includes rear-axle steering, adaptive dampers, and active anti-roll bars borrowed from the more potent Turbo S. These enhancements ensure optimal handling and stability, further enhancing the driving pleasure.
With a slower 0-60 time than the Turbo, the Sport Classic prioritizes the joy of gear shifting and offers an overall engaging driving experience. Porsche enthusiasts will appreciate the effort the brand has put into every aspect of this limited-edition model, staying true to its commitment to performance and design excellence.
The Sport Classic is a testament to Porsche’s dedication to preserving its heritage while also pushing boundaries. Car lovers and collectors alike will undoubtedly be eager to get their hands on this timeless piece of automotive artistry.
