As for The Hobbit Trilogy (shot digitally with abundant CGI), well, some people enjoyed these movies and some didn’t. And that’s all I will say about it.
This is not all. In addition to the two sets of 4K UHD 3D boxes – which will include both theatrical and extended releases from all six films – there is also the Ultimate Collectors Edition with additional new and redesigned content. LotR Blu-ray discs are set to arrive in summer 2021. So, if you’re desperate, you can get 4K UHD releases of movies now, or you can wait until next year to get the most complete and advanced releases.
